How to search inside a PDF

  1. 1

    Open search

Press Ctrl F (⌘ F on a Mac) while reading, or tap the search button in the PDF toolbar on a phone.

  2. 2

    Pick a mode

Use the menu at the left of the search bar. Exact finds the words as typed. Fuzzy still finds the word when you mistype it.

  3. 3

    Or describe it

In AI mode, type a question or what you remember of a passage, then press Enter. AI reads the PDF and lists the passages that match, most relevant first.

  4. 4

    Step through matches

Press Enter or Shift Enter, or use the arrows, to move between matches. Each one is highlighted on its page.

Questions

Yes. Every search covers every page, from the first to the last.

It forgives a few wrong letters in what you type, so a typo or a spelling you're unsure of still finds the word.

It matches meaning rather than words, so you can ask a question or describe a passage without knowing its exact wording.
